Smack Down


INTRODUCTION:



This competition is to bring out your enthusiasm in the field of robotics through Smack down where you can show your creativity by designing a robot. This has ability to tackle another robot and having brute strength, cat-like reflexes combine to create the ultimate battle! The purpose of this competition is to push, Throw, flip, drag or otherwise move your opponent out of a 1.6 meter diameter Circular ring within 3 minute. This competition is the most popular of the events both to watch and to participate in.

b. THE PLAY:

Robots will be placed inside the circular ring of above diameter and 30 cm. from the centre of ring. The robots will be set down in such a way they can face each other.

c. ROBOT SPECIFICATION:-

       1. Robot must be manually controlled.
       2. The maximum weight of robot can be 6 Kg; robot must be fit within a box of
           30x30x40 cc.
      3.    Robot should not have any sharp edge, cutting tools or any damaging
           tool so that it may not harm the opponent robot.

RULES & REGULATIONS:-

1.      A team may have 1-3 contestants. Only one contestant can operate the robot
           for the whole match.

2.      When both contestants are ready, the ring judge will signal the start of the
3 minute round at which time the robots may be activated (you may physically
           flick a switch on your robot).No movement must occur before the official start
           (No posturing).

3.      There will be three rounds in a match each of three minute. If any team win
             the round before one minute bonus points will be awarded.

4.      If both the teams will not be able to finish the round within three minute then
            Round will be tie up.

5.      A robot will be considered to be removed from the ring, when any of it's
Wheels or legs are over the edge and its centre of mass begins to tip.

6.      A robot whose body hangs over the edge is not consider 'off' until it
Physically tips off the edge and touches outside ring. JUDGEMENT
OF THE RING OFFICER WILL BE FINAL.

7.      If both robots will stuck in an entanglement or deadlocks, then the clock
will be stopped and the judges will ask the contestants if they want to
restart. If yes, then robots will be placed from the robot's starting position. Both
players must agree to this, if not, round continues as normal.

8.      At the end of each match the contestants are responsible for making sure
the ring is clean and ready for the next round to the satisfaction of
Judges or the contestant who produced the mess or scratch may be
disqualified. This includes all debris, fluids or marks remaining on the ring.

9.      The robot may not allow to touch anything outside of the ring
(with the exception of the operator's control cable which should be
lagging always).

10.  Intentional damage or interfering with the opponent operator is not
allowed. Those electronic items are not allowed which may harm
           opponent robot (any lightening chip or bolts).

 

 

POINTS DISTRIBUTION:-

a).The points will be awarded on the following basis-

1-The contestant wins the round      : 2 points will be awarded
2- The contestant ties the round       : 1 point will be awarded
3- The contestant loses the round     : 0 point will be awarded
4-Bonus point                                   : 1 point will be awarded

b).The team who accumulate the most point will make the final where
1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be decided by round robin.

SPECIFICATIONS:


1) Each team will have maximum 4 members.
2) A desktop computer will be provided to the teams.
3) The teams will have to bring their LASER pointers.
4) There will be a difference of 1 meter between the robot and the centre of the screen.
5) The computer will be placed next to the robot.
6) The judging system will be placed next to the team’s system.
