Civil Engineering Brains

   Introduction:

This will be a competition to test the fervor & passion about civil engineering in the candidates. Be it structures, hydraulics, environment or geotechnical the quiz will test the understanding of the basic principles of civil engineering & their application to practical life engineering problems. So be prepared with all your nerves…………..

   Rules & Regulations:

Ø  There will be five teams competing the contest.
Ø  The teams will be selected on the basis of their performance in the pre-quiz written test.
Ø The pre-quiz written test will comprise of 50 questions based on civil engineering problems.
Ø  In case of tie between two teams in pre-quiz contest selection will be made on the basis of points scored in structures followed by geotechnical followed by hydraulics, water resource engineering followed by transportation & environmental engineering.
Ø  In the final contest there will be three rounds:
ü  General Knowledge Round
ü  Civil Problem Round
ü  Quick Fire
ü  Visual Round

Ø  The general knowledge round would test the knowledge of the contestants about current engineering projects,
Ø  Latest technologies used therein & so on. Five questions will be asked to each team
Ø  For every correct answer a score of 10 points will be awarded & for every wrong answer. A score of 5 will be deducted. Questions will not pass in this round, but will pass onto audience.
Ø  Civil problem round would test the knowledge of contestants related to various field of civil engineering. A total of 15 questions will be asked from each of the contesting teams. For each correct answer a score of 20 will be awarded & for each wrong answer a score of 10 will be deducted. Questions will pass amongst the teams & finally onto audience.
Ø  Quick fire round would test the proficiency & ability to apply the engineering concepts quickly to common civil engineering problems. To each team three questions will be asked with four answer options. The team will have to choose the most economical & most suitable solution to the given engineering problem. A score of 10 will be awarded for each correct round & a score of 10 will be deducted for each wrong answer. Questions will pass amongst teams & finally onto audience.
Ø  Visual round will test the civil engineering awareness among contestants. A series of visuals will be displayed which the contestants would be required to identify in the given time interval. A score of 10 will be awarded for each correct answer & a score of 5 will be deducted for each wrong answer. Questions will pass amongst teams & finally onto audience.
