MATLAB Forum

PROBLEM STATEMENT

To solve problems based on electrical engineering using MATLAB software. Participants have to execute the program and display output on the screen.

TEAM SPECIFICATIONS

Each team will consist of 2 members. Systems will be provided by organizers.
All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate. This is not a branch oriented event. One who has a command in MATLAB can participate.

ABOUT THE EVENT

QUALIFYING ROUND

All the teams will have to execute a given program . Based on the time taken by participants, 10 teams will be selected for the next round.

SECOND ROUND

Selected teams will now be divided into two groups. Each team in its group will execute a common program and again based on their performance , two teams from each group will go for final round.

FINAL ROUND

In this decisive round, all four teams will face a common program (more tricky than previous round programs). The winner of this round will be winner of the event. Wait for a second, the runner up of this round is not the runner up of the event. Second and third position holders of this round will compete each other for runner up position.

JUDGING PANEL

There will be a panel of organizing committee which will be right there to judge performance of the competitors and their decision will be final.

PRIZE MONEY AND CERTIFICATES

A cash prize worth Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 will be awarded to the winner and the runner up respectively.
Certificate of participation will also be awarded to teams who will qualify for the second round.

Industrial Design Problem

This event is the ideal platform for engineering students to apply their skills and knowledge to come up with innovative and optimal solution to problems faced by the industry. You can't get any closer to the real-world working of an industry than this.

Rules and Regulations

1. The event comprises of two stages. Participants have to come up with a solution to the problem statements to qualify as a valid entry. An abstract in not more than 200 words should be mailed. Finalists will be intimated latest They will have to present their solution in the form of a 10 minutes long Power Point Presentation to a distinguished panel of judges.
2. The presentation should also include a list of references (including sources of statistical data that you may have used).
3. Economic consideration regarding the given problem must be mentioned.
4. Plagiarism, if discovered at any stage, shall lead to immediate disqualification. In other words you are allowed to improve someone's idea only if you acknowledge it, otherwise you will be disqualified.
5. The event will be judged by relevant Industry expert and their decision will be final and binding.
6. The judges are free to declare ‘No Winner’; if they find none of the solutions up to the mark.

Team Specifications

1. Maximum of two members is allowed per team. Participants from different educational institutions can form a team.
2. All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes can participate.

Certificate policy

Certificates of excellence will be given to all the winners.

Judging Criteria

According to problem, it will be decided by the concerned Industry Expert.

Botorace

As the world is becoming more and more advanced in technology, an even greater amount of energy is being used to keep up with the changing requirements. At the current rate at which energy is being used, the world will shortly come to an end of fossil fuels - the world's primary energy resource. You think you can drive, think again! No motors, no engines… just brains.

PROBLEM OF STATEMENT:

The challenge this year is to design, build, and test, a boat that uses a fuel without any motor. The competition will consist of running your boat for a certain distance. The boat with lowest time (taken to cover that particular distance) will win and should even be a fascinating one.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Teams shall send their names and abstract directly and should come prepared with the model. The teams shall be evaluated after investigating the model on the day of event.

COMPETITION DETAILS:

Team Specification:
TEAM FORMATION
  • Boto-race is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students of engineering.
  • Any team can have a maximum of 2 students.
  • No student can be part of more than one team.
  • It is not necessary that the students forming a team should be from the same college.
  • There is no restriction on the number of teams from the same college.

 PHASE I
  •  Submission of  entries the abstract should either in form of Word Document or PDF, less than 200 words, Times New Roman, 12 font size, with default spacing. Abstract may contain pictures/graphs if needed. Specifying your team name.
  •  Specify the registration id of and your team mates in the mail.
However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the teams to keep themselves updated.

RULES:

    1. If a team submits their abstract multiple times, the one sent at the last will be considered for evaluation.
    2. If a team a motor or any other derived from it, then the team is disqualified.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

All the students studying in their 2nd, prefinal/final year of B. Tech

JUDGING DETAILS:

·         The boat with minimum time, with which it will cover that particular distance, shall be the winner.
